Student Volunteer Army - Christchurch 4.84

The Student Volunteer Army is a student run organisation which provides both students and members of the community with opportunities to volunteer. The SVA was founded after the September 2010 Christchurch earthquake when over 11000 UC students became involved in city wide clean-up and support. While this disaster period has now passed the SVA continues to play an important role within the community, providing assistance to those in need, supporting community groups and projects, and encouraging students to volunteer. As of August 2014 the SVA has over 1400 members and is continuing to grow.
